Bussy-Saint-Georges town hall

Let there be white

FRANCE - Bussy-Saint-Georges

The project for façade refurbishment of the Bussy-Saint-Georges town hall, although very orthodox technically, was of great complexity as it had to be undertaken in a protected sector, which was very sensitive from the architectural and urbanistic points of view, and secondly because of the works phasing. The building had to remain open for public access throughout the whole operation. This was the challenge taken on by AIM Hanemian Architects.

The town hall is located in several buildings communicating with one another, including an old building, considered as a listed building and historic feature, dating back to the 18th century. The façade of the new wing, dating from the 1980s, needed a redesign to give it a less dated, elegant and even dynamic feeling. Without changing the interior design, we proposed a make-over for this façade by creating a double skin in white enamelled glass panels, Lite Point system from Saint Gobain. A new entrance was built, covered by a canopy of transparent glass with integrated lighting.
